Laws and Legislation on Field Coursing

  ©Jim Robertson
Coyote can be used as "bait" in field coursing.
Field coursing originated in England as a way to train and test hunting dogs—with a live animal as bait. In an historic move, the United Kingdom banned these cruel, unsporting competitions in 2004.

Unfortunately, field coursing remains legal in the majority of U.S. states.

Field coursing has been banned in a number of states:

Arizona
Connecticut
Florida
Idaho
Iowa

  Kansas
Maine
Massachusetts
Minnesota
Oklahoma
  Oregon
Texas
Vermont
Wisconsin
