The HSUS Connecticut Field Office in Woodbridge works both locally and nationally to assist the public with resolving urban wildlife issues. Our wildlife hotline service, now in its 10th year, handles more than 5500 phone calls annually. The hotline offers free advice concerning injured or orphaned wildlife as well as help with resolving conflicts with “nuisance” wildlife.

The Connecticut Field Office also:

• Lobbies on a variety of wildlife-related bills, such as trapping, nuisance wildlife control, and goose and deer kill exemptions.
  
• Assists concerned citizens with formulating strategies for stopping deer hunts, trapping, bird poisonings, and other community wildlife issues.
  
• Educates callers on appropriate protocols in wildlife cruelty cases.
  
• Oversees and coordinates The HSUS Beaver Remedies Program, which provides consulting and flow device installation services to resolve beaver conflicts. Flow devices are pipe-based structures that are run through beaver dams to prevent flooding. By keeping the water level constant, these devices provide a harmonious solution to beaver conflicts.

  Our Beaver Remedies work is primarily performed in Connecticut, but we also extend services to other parts of the country on a select per-case basis.
