Mako Mania Shark Tournament—Ocean City, MD
The 2008 Mako Mania Shark Tournament is taking place June 6-8. Makos are the primary species targeted but there is an added category this year for thresher sharks. Please take a moment to politely contact the individuals listed below and tell them that because both mako and thresher shark populations are in serious global decline, they should not be killed for prizes and bragging rights. The Mako Mania Shark Tournament must be canceled for good.

The village of Freeport is holding its 36th Annual Shark Tournament on June 21. Please call or write Mayor William F. Glacken and Town Supervisor Kate Murray to voice your concern on their support of such a tournament.

Downeast Maine Shark Tournament—Saco, ME *URGENT ACTION NEEDED*
The Downeast Maine Shark Tournament is scheduled to occur August 22-23 in Saco. Please take a moment to politely contact The United Way of York County that receives a monetary donation from the tournament, and tell them that they should not be giving this tournament their seal of approval. Also contact the Mayor of Saco, Roland Michaud, and tell him that Saco should not be known for cruelty and suffering.
