NAPERVILLE, Ill.- The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $2,500 reward for the information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of a pit bull found September 5 in a dumpster in Muncie, Ind.
The Case:
According to news reports, the mauled condition of a brown pit bull found in a north side dumpster has authorities convinced the animal died in a dog fight. The dog was found by police in an apartment complex dumpster at W. Woods Edge Lane. Police estimate the dog to be approximately eight months of age. He was found with cuts and puncture wounds across much of his body. Jill Dolan, President of Unconditional Love Foundation, an organization dedicated to battling animal fighting in Delaware County, stated that “the fatal wound was most likely a broken neck suffered at the jaws of a much larger dog.”
Animal Fighting:
The Humane Society of the United States and law enforcement agencies has long recognized the connection between animal fighting, animal cruelty and other illegal crimes. The HSUS’ Final Round Campaign raises public awareness and educates communities about dog fighting, cockfighting, and hog dog fighting.
