SPOKANE, Wash.-The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for burying a dog alive in Spokane Valley on March 18.
The Case:
According to Spokane County regional animal protection services, neighbors called to report finding a lab-mix buried alive under a concrete slab in a dirt hole on N. Evergreen Road in Spokane Valley. The hole had been covered and the dirt was patted down. A shovel was found next to the hole.
"It's impossible to believe that anyone would intentionally bury an animal alive. This is obvious cruelty and the person responsible should be held accountable," said Nancy Hill, director of Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Services.
The dog, named "Chance", made a full recovery and has since been adopted.
