Launched in January 2000, Humane Society Press is the scholarly/professional book imprint of The Humane Society of the United States, the world’s largest animal-protection organization, in Washington, D.C. HSP focuses on subjects of particular interest to the academic community, animal-care and-control professionals (including veterinarians and animal sheltering staff and volunteers), and policymakers.
