Nearly 700 dogs have a new lease on life after teams of rescuers under the command of The HSUS arrived to save them from a massive puppy mill operation in Lyles, Tenn. The removal of the dogs marks the largest puppy mill rescue ever conducted in Tennessee.
Tennesee was just one of the staging grounds in the battle against cruel puppy mills in 2008. In other states throughout the U.S., and even in Canada, our team rescued thousands of dogs and helped shine a spotlight on an inhumane industry. HSUS investigators pulled back the veil on the nation's largest puppy-selling pet store, Petland, for its ties to puppy mills. Thousands of you stood up and spoke out—urging the company to halt its sale of puppies and its support of puppy mills, for good.
