Marine mammals—a group that includes whales, dolphins,
porpoises, seals, sea lions, walruses, sea otters, polar bears,
dugongs, and manatees—face challenges as wide-ranging as the
oceans. From capture for public display to water and noise
pollution, humans are the source of many of those challenges.
But whether they are at risk from the unnatural conditions of
captivity or from human-caused injury or death in the wild as a
result of hunting, interactions with fisheries, or habitat
degradation, marine mammals have a strong ally in The Humane
Society of the United States. We are dedicated to protecting
marine mammals and their habitats. Find out more about the
issues involved in marine mammal protection and what you can do
to help.
