The 2006 International Whaling Commission Meetings |
The International Whaling Commission met this year from June 16-19 in St. Kitts. The HSUS and HSI recently traveled to the meeting, where Japan and pro-whaling nations tried to turn the tide on whale conservation.
The meeting ended with the moratorium on commercial whaling still in place. But Japan and other pro-whaling nations managed to eek out a slight advantage in votes, and may be just warming up to newfound power. Browse our daily dispatches and reports from St. Kitts to see how whales made out at the meeting.
