Federal court action challenging the opening or expansion of hunting at dozens of National Wildlife Refuges without comprehensive environmental review. In 2006, the federal district court in Washington D.C. declared the Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision to open or expand hunting at refuges unlawful under federal environmental laws.
In 2007, the court permitted expansion of the lawsuit to include more than two dozen additional refuges at which hunting was opened or expanded since the lawsuit was filed.
