Marcel was saved from a puppy mill in Montreal by The HSUS Animal Rescue team. Although puppy mills generally house canines this facility was also home to several neglected cats that our team was able to rescue along along with more than 100 dogs.
When he was rescued, Marcel was dangerously underweight, running a fever and had a severe respiratory infection. He was transported immediately to an emergency shelter set up at the Canadian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Montreal where he was evaluated and received necessary immediate medical care. Luckily he was adopted quickly into a patient and nurturing new home.
His new guardians threw themselves into Marcel's recovery—even bottle-feeding him for the first few days. Just a few short months ago Marcel was struggling to survive, but now this kitten is living life as a pampered family pet. Marcel's new guardian shares more of his journey below.

"Marcel continues to be on medication for some chronic health issues, but he has blossomed, especially in the last week.
He likes to 'keep track of his people,' and he goes from person to person for a little cuddling, then he's off to the back of the couch where he holds court from this throne!
Marcel has brought so much joy to my house ... everyone just adores him! The bottom line is that with his medical problems if he hadn't been rescued, he probably wouldn't be alive today. That's why what you do really matters. Thank you!"
