Humane Society International (HSI) is taking action against bullfighting with Mexican animal welfare organizations México Antitaurino and Asociación Mexicana por los Derechos de los Animales (AMEDEA).
Together, our organizations inaugurated an anti-bullfighting billboard on one of the busiest avenues in Mexico City, Calzada de Tlalpan. As pictured here, the billboard shows a photo of a tortured and dying bull in an arena with the text in Spanish and English:
Middle Ages or 21st Century
What age do you live in?
Enough already!

Ask Canal Once to take bullfighting program "Toros y Toreros" off the air! |
The billboard will run from August through October, 2008.
Mexico is one of the few remaining countries where bullfighting is still legal. Even in these countries, local support for this outdated and cruel practice is waning.
HSI strongly opposes government funding and promotion in support of the bullfighting industry. We are working with México Antitaurino and AMEDEA to convince a publicly funded television station to permanently remove a bullfighting program from its schedule. You can take action now by sending an e-mail to this station.
