The HSUS Partners with Fashion Designer Charlotte Ronson

September 5, 2008

Fashion designer Charlotte Ronson's Spring/Summer 2009 show at Bryant Park will be sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States and will incorporate The HSUS "No Fur" buttons, merchandise and message in new and innovative ways.

"I don't support cruelty to animals; anyway, faux fur can be just as chic," Ronson said.

Ronson will debut her collection during New York Fashion Week Saturday, Sept. 6 in The Promenade at Bryant Park. Ronson wants to make a difference and works to influence her friends and contacts in the fashion, music and entertainment communities to stop wearing fur. Currently, she gives out The HSUS fur-free buttons at her store in downtown New York, on Mulberry Street.

"We are thrilled to continue our support of Charlotte Ronson and applaud her ongoing commitment to animals and fur-free fashion," said Kristin Leppert, director of The HSUS's Fur-Free Campaign.

Ronson became an industry activist after attending The HSUS's 2007 'Cool vs. Cruel' awards ceremony in New York. She pledged then to go fur free, joining other designers and retailers including: Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Kenneth Cole, Tommy Hilfiger, Nicole Miller, Victoria Bartlett, Marc Bouwer, Betsey Johnson, The Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch and Banana Republic.

Born in London to an artistic family, Ronson grew up in New York. Following the family tradition, she designed her own unique fashion clothing brand. The Charlotte Ronson Collection has become a well-known international brand that can be found in department stores, boutiques around the world and 14 Charlotte Ronson boutiques in Japan and one in N.Y. Known for her impeccable style and trendsetting designs, Ronson's clothing and accessories have quickly become a favorite amongst the press, fashion forward celebrities, hipsters and socialites such as Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss, Lindsey Lohan, Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, Mischa Barton, Ellen Pompeo, Gwen Stefani, Winona Ryder and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
