Wendy's: Time to Do the Right Thing |
 |
November 7, 2007
Ever since Burger King announced in March that it's starting to switch to cage-free eggs, The HSUS has urged Wendy's to do the same. Even Hardee's and Carl's Jr. are now starting to move away from eggs from caged hens—leaving Wendy's virtually alone in its refusal to follow its competitors' lead.
In August, after months of dialogue with the company, The HSUS launched a campaign publicly asking Wendy's to stop defending its exclusive use of eggs from caged hens. Just in the past couple months, tens of thousands of people have contacted Wendy's and many are now leafleting outside its restaurants. Major media outlets have even run print and radio ads from The HSUS, calling on Wendy's to do the right thing.
Even people named Wendy—including actress
Wendie Malick—are
asking Wendy's to stop tarnishing their names by exclusively using cruel battery-cage eggs.
Laying hens need your help! Despite all the reasons that it's important that Wendy's take this modest step in the right direction—one that so many of its competitors have taken—the company is still refusing to do so. That's why it's critical that Wendy's hear from you.
