Princeton student Jenny Palmer makes the most of her advocacy for animals. |
When Microsoft and mtvU were looking for a student representative for their "Cause Effect" show, Jenny Palmer was a perfect fit. Jenny stars in the
second episode, called "i'm saving animals."
Part of Microsoft's "i'm making a difference" program, Cause Effect is a new show on mtvU, the largest TV network for college students. The network reaches more than seven million college students across the country.
The show tells the stories of young people committed to making the world a better place—and Jenny did a fantastic job of informing countless other students about the importance of reducing animal suffering.
Jenny Palmer attends Princeton University, and she has been a leader on numerous campus animal protection projects. She founded and runs the Princeton Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and works with other students to help animals.
Taking Action for Hens
One major victory her group spearheaded was the Cage-Free Campus Campaign at Princeton. PAWS persuaded the school's dining facilities to stop serving eggs that come from birds crammed in cruel battery cages on factory farms. In addition to Princeton, more than 330 universities have enacted policies to either completely eliminate or drastically reduce their use of eggs from caged hens.
Jenny completed an economics internship with The Humane Society of the United States and was also selected to be a student delegate at the Taking Action for Animals conference.
Thanks to the i'm series—and to Jenny—the message of animal protection reached millions of viewers.
