Aquaculture, fish factory farming, is the world's fastest growing agricultural industry. By weight, more than one-third of all aquatic animals eaten in the United States are raised in aquaculture facilities that, according to The Los Angeles Times, typically confine 50,000 to 90,000 fish in a single 100- by 100-foot pen.
