Hepatitis C Research: Summary of Chimpanzee Use |

Despite decades of research on chimpanzees and tens of millions of tax payer dollars spent, no effective candidates for a preventive or therapeutic human HCV vaccine and have been produced.
Going forward, carefully designed human studies, coordination among researchers, and implementation of existing in vitro studies will provide more relevant information on the characteristics of HCV in humans than any chimpanzee studies ever will.
