The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) is an international federation of animal protection organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, whose goal is to urge cosmetic and household product manufacturers to sign on to our internationally recognized Corporate Standard of Compassion of Animals.
In 1996, CCIC members joined forces to clear up the ambiguities and loopholes associated with the many "cruelty-free" designations. As a result, the CCIC crafted the Standard, a rigorous policy that ensures manufacturers and suppliers will not conduct or commission animal tests and will not use any ingredient or formulation that is tested on animals. We are encouraging consumer-product manufacturers to adopt the Standard, and the number of companies that have done so is growing internationally.
The CCIC and our partners in Europe developed a "leaping bunny" logo, signaling compliance with the Standard, for these companies to use on their product labels or in their advertising. Free, wallet-sized brochures of CCIC Cruelty-Free Companies are available to consumers. If you'd like to receive one, simply email us at ari@humanesociety.org.
The PDF version of the most recent CCIC brochure is now available.
