Reward Offered In Michigan City, Indiana Dog Cruelty Case

September 27, 2007

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is offering a reward of up to $2500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for setting fire to a Michigan City puppy who later was euthanized due to injuries suffered.

The Case:
A four-month old puppy, named Snoopy, was set on fire Wednesday night and suffered burns so severe he was euthanized. Just before 1 a.m., a woman told police she saw the pup running across the street on fire. She also said she heard what sounded like a dog crying. Snoopy’s owner believes he was taken from her fenced-in backyard.

Animal Cruelty:
The connection between animal cruelty and human violence is well documented. The Humane Society of the United States First Strike Campaign® raises public awareness and educates communities about this connection while providing a variety of resources to law enforcement agencies, social work professionals, educators, legislators and families. The HSUS offers rewards in animal cruelty cases across the country and works to strengthen laws against animal cruelty. Visit humanesociety.org/firststrike.
