The HSUS takes legal action to stop animal fighting and other forms of cruelty. A brief overview includes:

Litigation against Internet retail giant Amazon.com for its sales of materials promoting illegal animal fighting.
Assistance in a January 2006 Louisiana Supreme Court decision upholding a local law prohibiting cockfighting.
Intervention that helped turn away a challenge by the United Gamefowl Breeders Association to Animal Welfare Act amendments on transporting animals across state lines for fighting purposes
