The Humane Society of the United States Wildlife Land Trust, a separately incorporated 501(c)(3) charitable organization, exists to protect wild animals throughout the world by preserving their natural habitats and providing them true sanctuary within those habitats. Wildlife Land Trust sanctuaries restrict recreational and commercial hunting and trapping, commercial development, and logging. Animals inhabiting these sanctuaries benefit from the principles of kindness, justice, compassion and respect for life.
The Wildlife Land Trust is involved in the protection and conservation of more than 926,250 acres, in 33 states and four foreign countries(Romania, Belize, South Africa and Canada). Landowners can arrange to have The Wildlife Land Trust permanently protect their properties and may thereafter be eligible for income and property tax savings by selecting any one of several conservation options, including transfers of title with or without retained life estates, and donations of permanent conservation easements.
