Field Notes From Alaska

For the past six years, staff from the Western Regional Office has headed north to Alaska to help run animal wellness clinics. On most their trips, they've worked with Alaskan veterinarian, Dr. Erit Jayne of Veterinary Visions, often the only DMV to visit coastal, North Slope and interior villages on a periodic basis. A typical Veterinary Visions trip includes offering Spay Neuters, vaccinations, wound repair and a visit and talk to the local school for a talk on animal care or animal careers. |

Love, Affection Help Heal Rescued Dogs
 September 8, 2009 More than half of the 200-plus dogs rescued from a puppy mill outside of Billings, Mont., have found forever homes. Efforts by the National English Shepherd Rescue and The Humane Society of the United States to place the remaining dogs are in full swing.
