The Western Regional Office works on the frontlines of animal protection issues in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

We work throughout the region to support animal welfare legislation, fight animal cruelty in all forms, respond to animals in danger from man-made and natural disasters, and engage like-minded citizens to promote the protection of animals.

Field Notes From Alaska For the past six years, staff from the Western Regional Office has headed north to Alaska to help run animal wellness clinics. On most their trips, they've worked with Alaskan veterinarian, Dr. Erit Jayne of Veterinary Visions, often the only DMV to visit coastal, North Slope and interior villages on a periodic basis. A typical Veterinary Visions trip includes offering Spay Neuters, vaccinations, wound repair and a visit and talk to the local school for a talk on animal care or animal careers. Love, Affection Help Heal Rescued Dogs September 8, 2009 More than half of the 200-plus dogs rescued from a puppy mill outside of Billings, Mont., have found forever homes. Efforts by the National English Shepherd Rescue and The Humane Society of the United States to place the remaining dogs are in full swing.
