The HSUS Mid-Atlantic Regional Office recently celebrated dogs by joining the Monmouth County SPCA (MCSPCA) for its 14th annual dog walk and pet fair at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, N.J. The HSUS sponsored the event.
More than 3,000 people attended, and hundreds of dogs walked with their people to help raise funds for the shelter. MCSPCA rescued and cared for 4,000 lost, neglected, or abused animals last year. More than 500 of those animals were reunited with their human companions, and close to 2,200 were adopted into new homes. MCSPCA’s chief law enforcement officer investigates about 1,000 cruelty complaints annually.
“It was just wonderful to watch the loving interaction between the dogs and their stewards,” stated Barbara Dyer, regional program coordinator for The HSUS. “Displaying just some of our many educational resources at this event gives our staff and volunteers the opportunity to meet new people and share our programs with them. Twenty-one new humane activists signed up to receive email alerts and updates.”
