Kari Nienstedt is the Arizona state director for The Humane Society of the United States. She works to help animals through legislation, corporate campaigns, citizen advocacy, coalition building and other projects with both local and national scope.
During her tenure at The HSUS, Nienstedt has participated in animal fighting raids, disaster response, animal shelter consultation, rural spay/neuter clinics, lobbying at the state legislature, grassroots outreach, and many other aspects of animal advocacy.
Nienstedt has been working on animal issues since 1993, with a focus on farm animal protection. She was the campaign manager for Proposition 204--The Humane Treatment of Farm Animals Act--that successfully banned the use of veal crates and gestation crates in Arizona.
The Arizona native loves to travel and has visited more than 30 countries. Although each trip is special, she is always happy to come home to family, friends and four-legged kids.
