With more than one million seals killed in the past five years alone, Canada’s commercial seal hunt is the largest slaughter of marine mammals on earth.

Almost all of the seals killed are defenceless pups, and they are beaten and shot to death for their fur.

We are calling for a Europe-wide boycott of Canadian seafood because Europe is a major market for Canadian seafood— with exports contributing €250 million annually to the Canadian economy.

The connection between the commercial fishing industry and the seal hunt gives consumers the world over the power to end this cruel slaughter of baby seals forever.

Why boycott Canadian seafood?

Seal hunting is an off-season activity conducted by fishers from Canada's east coast. They earn a small fraction of their incomes from sealing—but the vast majority of the sealers' incomes are from commercial fisheries. Canadian seafood exports to the European Union contribute €250 million annually to the Canadian economy—dwarfing the few million dollars provided by the seal hunt. The connection between the commercial fishing industry and the seal hunt in Canada gives consumers all over the world the power to end this cruel and brutal slaughter. Click here to learn more.
